Selecting Play! 2.x Source Watcher Polling

This file watch service is selected automatically on machines with operation systems other than Linux, Windows, and Apple ones.

If you want to force this service when it wasn’t selected implicitely, there are three ways of doing so:

- using project property.

Add play2.fileWatchService project property with value polling.

This is simplest and recommended way.

- using plugin configuration parameter.

Add fileWatchService parameter with value polling to plugin configuration section.

- watch service as plugin dependency.

Add file watch service artifact as plugin dependency.

Warning: Only one file watch service can be added as plugin’s dependency at a time. It will be selected regardless of the value of fileWatchService plugin configuration parameter or play2.fileWatchService project property.

Configuring Play! 2.x Source Watcher Polling

This service has only one configuration parameter - play2.pollInterval. This is the poll interval in milliseconds. Default value is 1000 (1 second).

It can be changed by adding play2.pollInterval to project properties:

        <play2.pollInterval>500</play2.pollInterval>
    </properties>
    ...
</project>

or directly to Maven call:

mvn play2:run -Dplay2.pollInterval=500
